Hey, down on the left, that's me, Andy Hirsch!
I was born in Minnesota, raised in Texas, and college-educated in Georgia at the Savannah College of Art and Design. In 2010, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Funnybooks, although I think the school has revised that to "Sequential Art." Now I'm back in North Texas, doing what I do best.
For years, I've been an avid self-publisher, always looking to challenge myself with the sort of formal experiments that can only be hand-done. Away from the paper cutter and glue sticks, however, I've been tending a growing portfolio of professional work.
My clients include such companies as Faber-Castell, Jittery Joe's Coffee, and 2rw Consultants, for which I have provided everything from spot illustrations to weekly comic strips. Most recently, I've teamed up with Tommy Kovac on "The Royal Historian of Oz" from Slave Labor Graphics. This original miniseries, based on L. Frank Baum's beloved Oz stories, will be hitting the stands throughout 2010 and 2011 before being collected in trade paperback form.
